A Little Bit of Health PDF Print E-mail

The holidays have come and gone swiftly as they always seem to do! No matter which holiday you celebrate it is a safe bet that food was in the merriment equation. No matter your vice (ie-Cheesecake, turkey, cookies, a glass of wine...) it is a good bet you and your stomach teamed up and made a dent.

Now it is January, work is in full swing and the office is littered with empty chocolate wrappers and forgotten candy boxes. The million dollar question is how do you get your body back in shape, especially with the time constraints and rigours of your job.

The answer is getting creative! Here are some ideas to get your body working and your mind too, while at your job.

It’s All Where You Park- Park a little farther away from the office and get some extra steps in. If you take the subway or bus, get off a station or stop before your destination and get a little extra walk time in.

Use Those Stairs- Instead of the beloved elevator try taking the stairs. That extra up and down time is great for your body and will refresh your mind

Eat Healthy-Instead of always going out for lunch bring a healthy lunch from home. Fill it with the food groups and make sure you have great healthy snacks.

Take a Stretch Break- Instead of your 5 minute coffee break stretch a bit, walk around and get your muscles moving.

So this New Year, try and put a little health into your routine and start feeling great!

Doesn’t it seem just like yesterday the modern world was fussing and fretting over Y2K fears? Well, it has remarkably been a decade since that point and furthermore the end of the first decade in the new Millennium.  Look how far humanity has come in a mere decade with world shattering headlines and events that have come to define us.
Technology has also changed a fair bit.  We have gone from huge cell phones, VHS tapes and dial-up modems to sleek compact phones, DVD’s and high speed wireless respectively. Yes, the first decade has ushered in tons of new-fangled creations for personal and business use; here are some of the most notable that touch upon the spectrum of business as well as our personal lives.
Social Networking Sites: Yes,  Facebook, Twitter and its cousin MySpace started out for the Generation “X” and “Y” crowd, but now with even Baby Boomers and beyond connecting. Now with  LinkedIn in tow providing more professional connections people have put their personal and professional lives on the internet for friends and co-workers to see. LinkedIn has increasingly become the winner in the race for courting business people.
You Tube: This could have been a one trick pony, but this video posting site has braved its infancy and is well into its toddler years. True, it started out with mostly small scale clips and videos, but now it is a behemoth of entertainment, up and comers trying to get discovered and even businesses putting up videos to attract clientele, staff and buzz.
Cell Phone: Who would of thought ten years ago phones would come this far. Now with iphones and Blackberry devices cell phones have braved to a new generation, letting users text, tweet even surf the internet from their phone making life and business that much simpler.
So what will this new decade bring to people technologically? Only time will tell!

Make A House A Home PDF Print E-mail
Written by Shawn Shapiro

What is the definition of a house? Dictionary.com defines a house as: a building in which people live or a residence for human beings.

In actuality what is a house? If a house is truly made into a home, it is a place of memories and happenings. It is a vault of incidents both great and not so great. It is the place where you possibly took your first step, rode your first bike, had family dinners, and had life experiences in; it is a memory factory! Thus it is not so much the exterior that matters but the interior and all the people whom make it up. Take a person in your home out of the equation; it just will not feel the same

The question one would and should ask themselves is “How Do You Make A House Truly Feel Like a Home?” At Dictionary.com a home is described as, a house, apartment, or other shelter that is the usual residence of a person, family, or household. It is 100% the people within who create this warm feeling and attachment we have for the place we reside. So host family dinners, host holidays, have first moments and really enrich your life living in your home.

You need the right people and less worries about the actual house to make it feel like a home. A house in truth is just a house. You can take away the physical but truly you can never take away the feeling of being at home!
